Warranty & Guarantee

A roof is one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your home, and you deserve to know it’s protected — not just by a promise, but by something real you can hold us to. That’s why every Trinity Roofing project comes with both our own workmanship warranty and the backing of an independent, third-party guarantee. Here’s exactly what that means for you, in plain language.

Our 30-year workmanship warranty

We warranty every roof we install for up to 30 years. This covers our workmanship — the quality of the installation itself — because we stand behind how the roof is built, not just the materials that go on it. It’s a reflection of how we work: we’d rather do the job right the first time and back it for decades than cut a corner we’d have to answer for later. Our name is on every roof, and this warranty is us putting that in writing.

This works alongside the manufacturer’s warranty on your shingles and materials, so you’re covered on both fronts: the products themselves, and the way they were installed.

Why a 30-year workmanship warranty beats a “50-year” shingle

Here’s a question we get a lot: “If another company offers a 50-year warranty, isn’t that better than your 30 years?” It’s a fair question, and the honest answer surprises most homeowners — so let us explain it plainly, because this is exactly the kind of thing we think you deserve to understand.

First, the 50-year roof is largely a myth. Asphalt shingles are often marketed with “50-year” or even “lifetime” labels, but in the real world — and especially in New England’s climate — a quality asphalt shingle roof realistically lasts about 30 to 35 years when it’s made with good materials and, just as importantly, installed correctly with proper ventilation. The “50-year” figure refers to the shingle product under ideal lab-like conditions, not the lifespan you should actually plan around. So a warranty promising 50 years is, in practice, promising something the roof itself usually won’t deliver.

Second, a manufacturer’s warranty and a workmanship warranty cover two completely different things. The manufacturer’s warranty (the “50-year” one) covers defects in the shingle product — and the truth is, the vast majority of roof problems aren’t caused by defective shingles. They’re caused by installation: poor flashing, missing or inadequate ice-and-water protection, and bad ventilation. A manufacturer’s warranty doesn’t cover any of that. In fact, improper installation or inadequate ventilation can actually void that long manufacturer warranty entirely.

That’s why our 30-year workmanship warranty is the one that actually protects you where roofs really fail. It covers how your roof was built — the part that determines whether it reaches that full 30-to-35-year life in the first place. A long shingle warranty on a poorly installed roof is worth very little; a strong workmanship warranty on a properly installed, well-ventilated roof is worth a great deal. We’d rather give you an honest warranty that matches how long your roof will truly last, backed independently, than a flashy number that sounds impressive but doesn’t cover what actually goes wrong.

Backed by an independent third party: The Good Contractors List

Here’s what sets our guarantee apart. A warranty is only as good as the company standing behind it — which is a fair concern any homeowner should have. So our work isn’t just backed by us. It’s backed by The Good Contractors List, an independent organization that vets home service contractors so homeowners don’t have to take a company’s word that it’s trustworthy. Founded in 2011, they pioneered the idea of backing vetted contractors with a real financial guarantee — something that simply didn’t exist in the contracting industry before.

Getting on the list isn’t automatic, and it isn’t something a company can just pay for. Every contractor goes through an extensive personal interview and a background check covering not only the business but the owner personally — including criminal, financial, and civil records — to confirm a solid legal and financial reputation. They also examine a company’s reviews, its track record on past projects, and how long it has been in business. Companies are re-screened over time, and any that no longer meet the standard can be removed from the list. The organization holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

What The Good Contractors List guarantee means for you

  • A real financial guarantee, up to $25,000. If a listed contractor fails to complete a project as promised, The Good Contractors List steps in and will pay up to $25,000 to get the work finished to your satisfaction.
  • An honest third party in your corner. They act as an impartial party between you and the contractor — and will even come to your home for an inspection if an issue ever needs to be resolved.
  • Independently verified trust. Earning a place on the list means our honesty, financial stability, workmanship, and reputation with past customers were all independently checked — not just claimed by us.

For Trinity Roofing, being on The Good Contractors List means an outside organization is willing to stand behind our work — one more layer of protection and peace of mind for you, at no extra cost.

Why we do it this way

We know many homeowners have been burned by contractors before — poor workmanship, disappearing acts, warranties that turned out to be worthless when something went wrong. We built Trinity Roofing to be the opposite of that experience. Backing our work with a 30-year warranty and an independent third-party guarantee is how we prove it, rather than just saying “trust us.” You shouldn’t have to take a roofer’s word for it — you should have real protection behind the work.
